You never felt he left anything on the pitch? Huh?

What's not to like about Ginge.

He strikes me as the sort of bloke who would be a good next door neighbour. Would lend you his mower if needed and help jump start your car if the battery went flat !

An all round top fella

Always liked Collins, Club needs to look at a coaching position for him when he retires.

Fantastic servant, top top bloke and gives everything every time he steps onto the pitch

Should be given another year as he is still our best CB at certain points during the season at 34

He is a far better defender then most give him credit for. Some on here act as if he is a ginger welsh Bramble!

He gave my youngest his shirt yesterday, his sweat even smells sweet. Saying that there was so much Vicks on the front of it you can't smell much else!! He gives his all, that's enough for me. Never felt he left anything on the pitch in majority of his performances.

He’s done well for us but it does amuse me greatly that a couple of wins and all of a sudden our players are legends when at other times they are slated (including Collins)! Let’s try and remember these threads the next time they are labelled as has been.

Quite right Iron2010. We all love Ginger Pele but that's because we are playing a very defensive game and he doesn't get exposed too much. When he's one-on-one with a quick nimble forward he can get ripped apart.

Love him but we need to move on from defenders like this.

Legend looked in real pain yesterday with a shoulder injury waved off the medics who were coming on dragged himself to his feet and carried on

Shame age and injuries are catching up with him. You know what you get with him but his never say die attitude and commitment is a great example to those coming through who are probably better footballers.

He's been a cornerstone of many of our best performances over the years under many managers. Hope he ends his career with us and we find a role for him if he wishes to carry on in the sport.

Yep, he continues to make an honest, experienced contribution to the team.
Weighs in with an occasional goal as well.

Old fashioned, brave, great in the air and never hides.
Got to add a high five to Ogbonna as well. He has played so much better since the change of manager.

It’d be nice to see him get Hammer of the Year, he probably has been one of the better players whenever he’s come in.

Re: the James (aka Ginger Pele) Collins appreciation thread
I think from the way Moyes has selected that he has, as he always does, forced himself back to being one of Moyes two first choices. Difficult to be certain because of injuries / squad rotation / 2/3 CB policy.

Love Ginge.
Love all the worthy comments he has on here and well deserved.
One of our most loyal over the last 20 years and should get another season out of him at this rate.

I think he will get another year as I read last week that we told Cardiff they couldn't have him when they enquired about taking him off our hands.

An honest pro. Would like to see the youngsters (Rice, Oxford) get a chance to play alongside him before he goes. Part of me hopes he gets another year.
